General Tire: Tyres for SUVs and 4x4 Vehicles

  • General Tire is renowned as the specialist for SUVs and off-roaders
  • Wide range of products to meet the most demanding requirements

General Tire, Continental's tyre brand with its rich American heritage, is best known for high-performance SUV and all-terrain tyres. Alongside its renowned off-road range, General Tire also offers a wide range of road tyres.

Grabber AT3

The tread pattern of the Grabber AT3 has been designed in such a way that it is suitable for use on off-road terrain as well as road use. In addition, the all-terrain expert features a large number of robust blocks that interlock with the ground, and allow the vehicle to move forward, steer precisely, and ensure short braking distances on and off road. The deep tread grooves provide additional grip when the vehicle is traveling over muddy roads or slippery grassland. Aggressive shoulder blocks that reach into the side wall of the tyre prevent the side wall from being damaged. The Grabber AT3 offers high tread strength for driving on the road and carries out steering and brake commands precisely.

General Tire manufactures the pattern in an extremely wide product range for rims between 15 and 21 inches in diameter; in tread widths from 195-315, with approval for speeds of up to 150mph. Coming soon are new and exciting sizes suitable for the Land Rover and Range Rover family, and for Mercedes-Benz vehicle marques; 255/60 R19 113V XL and 275/45 R21 110V XL.

Grabber X3

The Grabber X3 is a 4x4/mud-terrain, with a clear emphasis on off-road with an 80/20 off/on-road weighting. To help them meet a demanding set of specifications, General Tire’s development engineers created three pioneering technologies: “Extreme Mud (X Mud)” for maximum traction in deep mud, “Extreme Dirt (X Dirt)” for driving on dirt and gravel, and “Extreme Rock (X Rock)” for tackling rocky terrain. All three rely on a tread pattern that features deep grooves, channels for mud evacuation and staggered edges, which makes for high levels of grip on sand, mud and gravel.

Grabber X3 has a three-ply structure that provides additional strength and puncture resistance. Compared to the tyre’s predecessor, its performance on sand and in loose gravel has been improved by five percent, while performance over rocky terrain by ten percent. For on-road use the Grabber X3 is better than its predecessor in terms of wet performance and noise, while there is a ten percent improvement on snow-covered ground.

The Grabber X3 is available for rims between 15 to 20 inch in diameter. All sizes of this off-road specialist are approved for speeds of up to 99 mph in tread widths from 205-305.

A limited range of the Grabber X3 feature the Smooth Red Letter (SRL) sidewall marking.
