General Tire launches new all-season tire Grabber Cross A/S on the market
May 2025
With the new Grabber Cross A/S, the traditional American brand General Tire has launched a new all-season tire that combines safe summer and winter driving with off-road capability. Under the motto "On the road and beyond ", the robust 4x4 tire offers good handling on asphalt, protection against aquaplaning, safe driving in warm and cold seasons, high mileage and good traction off-road.

Hanover, Germany, May 20, 2025. To achieve outstanding handling performance on all surfaces, General Tire has developed the Grabber Cross A/S with a combination of a stiff tread and a cut and chip resistant rubber compound.

High traction and comfort on all surfaces
For use on dry roads, the tire designers have integrated support elements between the blocks to make the tread extra stiff and ensure safe performance. This design also ensures even pressure distribution. This means that not only can steering commands be executed precisely, but also longer distances can be driven at higher speeds without compromising mileage. Another advantage is the driving comfort and low rolling noise with high mileage.
Hexagonal blocks with biting edges provide traction on loose surfaces. The edges of the tread grooves are chamfered to further improve off-road performance. In addition, the Grabber Cross A/S features a highly cut and chunk resistant crossover compound that increases the tire's durability on rough terrain. Transverse and longitudinal sipes in the tread blocks ensure good grip on wet and snowy roads, and the open tread shoulder accelerates water evacuation when driving in the rain, effectively and safely preventing aquaplaning.
"The Grabber Cross A/S is General Tire's entry into a new product segment. The tire is designed for high speeds on fast roads, but also offers excellent off-road performance in challenging terrain," said Matthias Bartz, Business Development Manager for General Tire in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "With our extensive size portfolio, we can offer tires for about 85 percent of the most popular crossover SUVs.

44 sizes between 16 and 22 inches
In addition to the M+S marking, the Grabber Cross A/S also bears the so-called snowflake symbol, which is mandatory in Germany and France since 2024 as proof of winter capability. General Tire produces 44 sizes between 16 and 22 inches in diameter. Depending on the size, the Grabber Cross A/S is approved for speeds up to 240 km/h.
The new Grabber Cross A/S is suitable for a wide range of vehicles with and without four-wheel drive. This includes popular SUVs such as the VW Tiguan, KIA Sorento, Ford Kuga, Mazda CX 90 or Volvo X90. It also bears the "EV Compatible" logo on its sidewall, certifying its suitability for electric vehicles.
The tire is available now through dealers and service centers. In the classification for the EU tire label, the new 4x4 all-season tire achieves a rolling resistance rating of C or D, a wet grip rating of C and a rolling noise rating of B.
